Many actors might be averse to accepting a small role in their debut film, but actor Waluscha De Sousa, who plays Shah Rukh Khan’s wife in the recently released Fan, says that she couldn’t have asked for a better launch in Bollywood. “The role was perfect for my debut. I got to work with Shah Rukh, someone who I was a fan of. Plus, the production house was also my favourite. This was a fantastic opportunity and the film opened so many doors for me,” she says.

Talking about working with Shah Rukh, Waluscha says, “He is such a warm person. We worked together in an ad earlier and I was surprised to know that he remembered me. He has an exceptionally good memory. It was a dream come true to work with him in my first film.”

Meanwhile, Waluscha is in the process of finalising her next film and says that she wants to try different genres. “Be it glamourous roles or going de glam, I want to try everything. Sanjay Leela Bansali is my favourite filmmaker and I would love to work with him. I love the romance and drama in his films. At the same time, I want to be part of director Anurag Kashyap’s films too, which are more realistic,” she says.

“I don’t want to set any boundaries in terms of genre. Right now, my slate is clean. Slowly and steadily, I will make a place for myself in the film industry and find my forte. Although I am reading many scripts right now, I am yet to finalise my next project and therefore don’t want to say much,” she adds.
