He started his career in 2001 with filmmaker Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, but films such as Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010) and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011) gave actor Randeep Hooda a solid footing in Bollywood.
The 35-year-old now has many projects lined up including the films Jism 2, Heroine and John Day. On a recent visit to the Capital, Hooda said he is excited about his upcoming flick, Jannat 2, which is helmed by Kunal Deshmukh.
Talking about his character in the film, he revealed, “I play Pratap Raghuvanshi, a cop. He has a problem with illegal guns and wants to break the nexus of illegal trade. He is also an alcoholic and drowns his sorrows by drinking.” He added, “The role was taxing. To stay in character, I went on sets drunk, because I wanted a slur in my dialogue and unsteadiness in my gait. I realised that there is a thin line between being a party drinker and an alcoholic. There was a time when I was craving for a drink at 11 am.”
When asked how it was to work with actor Sunny Leone, his co-star in the film Jism 2, he said, “It was like working with any co-star who starts a new journey in Bollywood. She is very hard working.” Talking about his journey in the industry, Hooda added, “Before Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, I took a break as I wanted to introspect and to know if acting is truly my passion. I realised it is. Now,
I’m hungry for good work.”
Lastly, the actor who has been linked to actor Sushmita Sen and recently to actor Neetu Chandra claimed, “I don’t have time for a relationship. Let life take its course.”
