Saiyami Kher has been a model and grew up playing sports. But she finally chose acting as her profession. Here, the youngster talks about her dream to be directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, her desire to work alongside Amitabh Bachchan, and more.
How has Mirzya affected your life?
It has been a life-changing experience. As they say, when the time is right, everything falls into place. Mirzya changed me as a person.
Tell us about one quality of your co-star, Harshvardhan Kapoor, that you like?
Harsh is extremely passionate about his work. He has a lineage to live up to, but he is not the kind to get bogged down by it. He lost weight for the film and stayed true to the character, as opposed to [getting] the clichéd six-pack-ab physique. He has a solid screen presence.
How are the both of you similar as people?
Both Harsh and I are introverts. He takes time to open up. We spent two-and-half years [while shooting for the movie] together. It was a gradual process, but we eventually got along and bonded over cricket. He couldn’t believe that a girl knew so much about the sport. I have a sports background and grew up playing state-level badminton and cricket. I have found a really good friend in him.
What is your take on the way the media links up co-actors?
I find it entertaining. It is part and parcel of this industry. It’s human tendency to indulge in loose talk and bring people down. There are few people who speak well of others. There are some people who I was linked up with on the Internet, but it doesn’t bother me because my family and I know the truth.
Who is on your wish list of actors and directors?
Many, but my dream is to be directed by Rakeysh sir in a film that also stars Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan).
