Actor Sonu Sood, 38, who has done films such as Yuva, Singh Is Kinng and Dabangg, has managed to carve a niche for himself in his decade-long career. Sood, who has been in news for his alleged fall out with actor Salman Khan (as Sood opted out of the sequel to Dabangg), plays a tough police officer in the recently released Kabeer Kaushik film, Maximum.
Chatting with us, Sood gets talking about Salman, films, his roles and Delhi memories.
On tiff with salman Khan
News of a problem with Salman did not bother me. Our relationship is much beyond working or not working in a film. Salman’s family is very close to me.
On his role in the film
I play cop Pratap Pandit - a man of few words. I met many police officers and observed their nuances as part of my research to do justice to the role.
On his future projects
I’m playing Dawood Ibrahim in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala. I’m really excited about the role and met many people associated with him for it.
On his film, maximum
It’s about the rivalry between two encounter specialists played by me and Naseer saab. There’s a realism about the script, which I loved.
On his career so far
It’s a great phase. I’m happy to have made my space in the industry. Slowly, I’m moving in the right direction.
On delhi memories
Delhi is very special to me as it prepared me for my career in acting. My first photoshoot took place in the city for R1,500 only.
