I have not been approached with good scripts: Sharman Joshi
Ahead of the release of his new film (slated to hit theatres alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s next), Sharman Joshi talks about the project, why he is disappointed on not being part of film-maker Rajkumar Hirani’s movie and more.
Sharman Joshi is remembered for his role in films like 3 Idiots (2009) and Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012). Ahead of the release of his new film, which is slated to hit theatres alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s next, the actor talks about the project, why he is disappointed on not being part of film-maker Rajkumar Hirani’s movie and more.
Your next film releases a day after Shah Rukh’s. How do you feel about it?
What I have been made to understand by the producers is that ours is a family film and Diwali is the best time for its release. I know Shah Rukh has a great presence. He is a star and I am nowhere close to that. His film is much bigger in that context and it is expected that the crowd would be thronging to watch it. But we also have the scope to perform at the box office. There have been multiple Diwali releases in the past and films have been successful if they were good enough.
Aamir Khan is also readying for his next with Hirani. Are you upset that you are not a part of it?
I want to be a part of every Rajkumar Hirani film. I was aware about the movie since its commencement. But I think he did not have a role to fit me in. I was disappointed as I felt there would be a script where he can cast me. |
You haven’t done any commercial films in the recent past. Why?
I don’t know. Perhaps I have not been approached with good scripts.
Though you are known for your acting, why haven’t you achieved stardom in the industry?
I guess you get what you are destined for. Also, there is a future to offer something bigger. As a talented actor, you also need to market yourself in the industry to become a star, which I am bad at. That art is crucial, but I am still learning it.
