Though she debuted with a hindi film called Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005, but post the release Tamannaah Bhatia headed southwards due to lack of good scripts coming her way in Bollywood. “I sign films that I enjoy watching as an audience and Himmatwala is one such movie and therefore I signed it after waiting for so long. While I was working down South, I got many offers but nothing interested me as an audience,” says the 23-year-old actor who is playing Sridevi’s part in the remake of the 1980s hit flick, Himmatwala, opposite Ajay Devgn.
Though the actor initially tries to dodge questions on her comparisons with Sridevi but nudge her again and she says, “The movie made Sridevi an icon in that era and no one can recreate that magic. But my role too has substance and I have tried my level best to do justice to it. Also I am a huge fan of Srideviji so this role will be my tribute to her.”
Speaking about her experience of romancing the 43-year-old Ajay Devgn, a confident Tamannaah replied saying, “As actors when we are on a film set we play the character, irrespective of our age. That is how we are tuned to think so there is no age barrier. I was as comfortable doing a romantic scene as any other scene.”
However, the actor has one principle that she follows. “I don’t kiss on screen and nor will I ever don a bikini. I have followed it so far and continue to do so,” she shares. The actor has already landed a comedy film with Akshay Kumar, in the meanwhile.
