After getting rave reviews for her minor yet significant role in Raajneeti last year, the Shararat girl Shruti Seth is eagerly waiting for the release of her next film, My Friend Pinto. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film stars an ensemble cast comprising Prateik, Makrand Deshpande and Kalki Koechlin.
The film revolves around the independent stories of 10 characters that come together over a period of 24 hours. Talking about her character, Shruti says, “I play a super b***h in the film. My character is that of an over-achiever, who is ready to compromise her relationships for personal success.”
Anxious to get rid of her girl-next-door image, the actor adds, “I’ve always played cutesy roles. But that has thankfully changed after Raajneeti. People sat up and noticed that I could do other stuff too.”
The actor, who married filmmaker Danish Aslam in a private ceremony in Goa last year, has just returned from her three-week-long honeymoon in the US. “In Miami, I lived my life’s biggest dream of watching my favourite band U2 perform live,” she says. “My husband, who shares my passion for the band, actually planned our honeymoon around June 29, which is when the band performed in Florida City.”
Meanwhile, Shruti is set to produce a chat show with close friend and TV show host Mini Mathur. It focuses on the new generation of actors in Bollywood, their friendships and relationships. She also plans to return to TV with a fiction series on a kid’s channel and as an anchor on a lifestyle channel.
