Actor Priyanka Chopra seemed to be at her liveliest best at the 15th edition of the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA).
The 31-year-old actor-singer has recently reprised Bonnie Raitt’s 1991 number, I can’t make you love me, and says this song is special to her.
"It is an old song which many other singers have tried before, and I hope I have done a good job. This song is special to me as it helped me get over many teenage heartbreaks. I have spent many nights getting over my pain with this song," she said.
As for the track’s success, she wants it to take its own course. "Arrey, at least give some time before deciding on the fate of my song … bus do din huye hain (to its release)," she told the press. The song’s video will feature American actor Milo Ventimiglia.
And, singing isn’t the only thing keeping Priyanka occupied. She’s also excited about performing at the awards tonight, as her family is coming to watch her on stage.
"There are nearly 25 family members who will witness it ... a lot of my family stays in Miami so I keep going there but this time I really plan to chill with them in Florida," said the actor. Meanwhile, she is also preparing for Zoya Akhtar’s next, which she shoots in 10 days.
PC is also part of a global girls’ education campaign, and involves Salma Hayek, Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez. With such a busy schedule, the actor says she is upset that she could not cast her election vote. "The dates for voting were announced a few weeks ago while IIFA was locked six months ago. I was feeling horrible I couldn’t vote."
