Ranveer Singh looks intensely dangerous as the title character, Baji Rao I. (Eros)

The actor, who is known for his lively persona, says he believes in working with dedication. “I don’t do anything extraordinary. All I can do is work hard. It’s a stroke of luck, or you could say I made my own luck. I definitely put myself in a position where I get golden opportunities. I made some good decisions. I was lucky to make those decisions at the right time,” says Ranveer.

But what is it about the actor that makes him so desirable? It’s the way he behaves in public and carries himself. He made the ‘I-don’t-care’ attitude cool. His ability to pull off any role with ease has been one of his greatest strengths.

But, Ranveer says that his journey in the industry has been no bed of roses. “I had my portfolio, and I was like any other struggler. I ensured that I brought to everyone’s notice that I was looking for work. Getting a call for Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) was part of that procedure. And when I got a call, I knew it was ‘the’ opportunity I was looking for. After my first performance, you could say that effectively I had my foot in the door. After that, there’s been no looking back,” Ranveer reminisces.

Today, even as he basks in the glory of his stardom, what sets him apart is his attitude, humility and the fact that he has his head on his shoulders. Each time you meet him, he will look at you and say, ‘Hi, I’m Ranveer.’ And that’s when you know you’ve met a person who’s a perfect 10 on 10.

Ranveer Singh boasts of a star stature in Bollywood today; we look at his five-year journey in the industry, his struggles and what sets the actor apart.
