Kunaal Roy Kapur is largely remembered for his performances in Delhi Belly (2011), Nautanki Saala and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. But the actor is now keen on pursuing filmmaking, which happens to be his primary passion. While his debut directorial venture was, The President Is Coming (2009), his next film will revolve around people’s desire to achieve fame in today’s time. “It’s a story about fame. Currently, Indians are obsessed with the idea of gaining popularity.
It is as big a thing as money and is a big part of our lives nowadays,” says Kunaal. What’s interesting is that Kunaal, who respects Aamir Khan for his filmmaking sensibilities, will approach the actor to seek advice for his film. “I really respect Aamir for the way he betters a film, his ideas on editing and acting. I would definitely tap him to get his opinion,” says Kunaal, adding “I knew if I’ll ever need advice on filmmaking, Aamir would definitely be the one I should approach.”
While he is excited about exploring the art under Aamir’s mentorship, he is also certain to not approach his brother’s (Siddharth Roy Kapur) production house to back his project. “I won’t approach UTV to back my film. I would rather go somewhere else and try to sell the film. I would not want to use that connection. We (brothers) don’t want anyone’s favours,” says Kunaal.
The script of the yet untitled film is ready and Kunaal confirms that it will go on the floors in March next year.
