I want to keep pushing my limits and do better work: Manjari Fadnnis
Actor Manjari Fadnnis says she never had any apprehensions being part of a film with an ensemble cast.
Actor Manjari Fadnnis has only done a handful films in Bollywood and most of them happen to be multi-starrers, but she has no qualms about being a part of an ensemble cast.
“I am a content person who wants to keep pushing my limits and do better work. I would rather compete with myself and not feel insecure of others. (Also) Each character gets its own space and time in the film, so I don’t have any such apprehensions sharing screen space with other actors,” says Manjari who has worked in multi-starrers such as Grand Masti (2013) and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015).
The 32-year-old actor rose to fame with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) where she played the second lead and even bagged her first award in the industry for breakthrough performance. “Since I come from a non-film background, I needed that one film that could just bring me in the limelight. And I felt the role (Meghna) had tremendous potential for me to get noticed. It gave me credibility as an actress and industry woke up to me and realised I can play a main lead as well,” she recalls.
Manjari admits that after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, it took her a while to break that image of being a supporting actor. “It took me a few years to get back where I wanted to be. I refused a lot of roles after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na because there’s a particular way I look at my career and I didn’t want to get typecast. I believe I deserve more,” she shares adding, “During that time, I worked in a lot of regional films, kept learning more, polished myself as an actor, took some workshops too, learnt dancing and even completed my studies, as I started acting right after my school. So I made the most of my free time.”
Being a part of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon starring Kapil Sharma definitely was a high point in Manjari’s career. She adds, “That was a great move and I am sure it opened more opportunities for me. (Also) working with directors such as Abbas Mastan was always on my checklist. I feel blessed that role came my way.”
