Sixty-year-old actor Om Puri has lost five kilos in the last month. His inspiration, he reveals, is “an innate desire to look good” in an Interpol cop uniform for Karan Johar’s Agneepath. The actor, who donned a uniform in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 recently and is slated to wear one again for Karan’s film, says, “I feel very embarrassed when I wear a police uniform on screen and my belly shows.”

Before the second schedule of Johar’s film goes on floors on June 20, Om aims to lose an additional four kilos. “I want to lose a total of 15 kilos at least, and then maintain it,” he says. While he insists he has no health complications, Om says, “I feel it’s never too late to start treating your body like your own child. If you do that, it rewards you by working effortlessly.”

Om admits his appetite for food is why he hasn’t been able to keep fit. He adds, “When I shoot in small towns in Haryana or Kashmir for example, families bring me food on the sets. When I pass a street in those towns, I have people calling out to me to join them for lunch. How do you say no?” Om reveals that he has been on a special diet for the last month, saying, “I have had no solid food except for watermelon. I drink lemon juice and buttermilk all day. In the evening, I have bitter gourd soup, melons, boiled vegetables and two dates.”
