I want to meet Sangeeta Bijlani: Nargis Fakhri

The actor, who plays former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin’s estranged second wife, Bijlani, in her next, says she wants to know how she has maintained herself.

Nargis Fakhri, 35, is on a roll this year. Two of her films — Azhar and Housefull 3 — are releasing within a span of a few months. In the first movie, which is based on some of the true events that took place in former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin’s life, Nargis will be seen playing former actor Sangeeta Bijlani, his estranged second wife. However, the actor has not been able to meet her till now. She has only heard good things about Sangeeta from different people. “I want to meet her, and ask her how she looks so good. She is nearly 50,” says Nargis.

Talking about her character in Azhar, who gets involved with a married man, the actor says, “I would never date married men, but I’m not judging [those who do]. Love can be crazy. If a man hits on me, I try to figure out if he has a wife or a girlfriend, and if he says that he does have a partner, I cut him off in a second. There are so many single men out there. Why would you want to be in that kind of situation?”

Meanwhile, in the third instalment of the Housefull series, Nargis will be seen sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Lisa Haydon. “If I’m asked to do another film like this, I would say yes to it. It is so easy and light… you don’t feel like you are going to work,” adds Nargis. But does she have reservations about being part of movies that have multiple leading actresses? Nargis says that the idea is “outdated”. “You know how old I am, and how old these actresses are. I look as good as they do. So, I’m comfortable. I need to give it to myself that I’m competing with girls who are seven to eight years younger than me.”
