While it is heard that young stars take home big fat cheques home with their initial assignments, such was not the case with actor Shahid Kapoor. The actor, who will be seen essaying the character of an aspiring actor in filmmaker Raj Kumar Santoshi’s upcoming action-comedy, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, revealed on a TV show that he was paid a paltry amount for his first film, on which he managed to survive a few days.
The 32-year old, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2003 release Ishq Vishk and later gave hits like Vivah, Kaminey and Jab We Met, reveals, “I would wait for hours together for the payment of my first film. I was advised by people to look at opportunities and not at the money. I used to tell them that I need the money for my day-to-day living,” he says. “I was paid Rs1.5 lakhs for my first film. That’s hardly any money, but yes I could survive on it for a few days,” he adds.
