Ever since the success of Aashiqui 2 (2013) — the sequel to Aashiqui (1990) — rumours about the third instalment of the film’s franchise started doing the rounds. Of late, there has been buzz that film-makers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt are set to make the new instalment, in which Alia Bhatt will apparently play the female lead. Shraddha Kapoor, who starred in the 2013 film, calls the decision of getting Alia on board “absolutely great”. She says, “I heard about this (that Alia has been approached for the film), but is it confirmed? I personally don’t know if Alia is doing the film, but if she is, it’s fantastic.”
The actor says she isn’t feeling bad about not being part of the franchise that changed her career. “I am sure it will be a completely different story, like how Aashiqui 2 was. I wish the makers all the best. I’m looking forward to watching the movie” says Shraddha.

Meanwhile, ask the actor if she keeps tabs on what her contemporaries are up to professionally, and Shraddha says she is “disconnected and clueless”. “I am in my own bubble, doing my own thing,” adds the actor, who stayed in a hotel in Colaba for a few days, while shooting for her new film. “I decided to stay there because I had to wake up around 4am daily after finishing work really late. So, I did that to cut down on the travel time,” she says.
