It’s a common trend for producers of a forthcoming film to showcase the first look of their films, alongside a new release. However, it is learnt that producer Sajid Nadiadwala refused to attach the promos of

Break Ke Baad

with his

Anjaana Anjaani

, which opens in cinemas this Friday. Unperturbed by this non-cooperation, Reliance Big Pictures and Kunal Kohli are releasing the trailers of their Imran Khan-Deepika Padukone movie directly through the theatres.

An industry source attributes Nadiadwala’s refusal to attach the

Break Ke Baad

promos to competition and star issues. “Those who have seen the promos of the Imran-Deepika film are raving about it. Besides, the two heroes have always been pitted as rivals and Imran is back in the reckoning with the success of

I Hate Luv Storys

,” says our source, adding that the souring of Ranbir Kapoor’s friendship with Khan and break-up with Padukone has further sensitised the issue.

When asked, Preeti Shahani of Reliance Big Pictures says that she was unaware of Nadiadwala’s stand. “We were keen to release the theatrical of

Break Ke Baad

this weekend for two reasons. One, because three films are releasing this Friday, and secondly, because October 2 is a national holiday, being Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. So, a good turnout is anticipated” she maintains.

Further, Shahani also confirms that they had always planned to release their film’s promos with the new big releases. “We’re looking forward to the response now,” she says, adding, “As a studio, we have good relations with all the theatre chains. And they are more than happy to run the theatrical of

Break Ke Baad

during all the new releases this Friday.” We tried contacting Nadiadwala, but he didn’t respond to our calls and text messages.
