The success or failure of a character also depends on the right look, a fact Imran Khan is well aware of. The actor, who has moved on from the romantic genre, is currently looking forward to showing the audience his rustic side. He is working hard on his look for his upcoming films.

Imran is leaving no stone unturned for Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 (OUATIM 2), Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (MKBKM) and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies. With all three films portraying the actor in rustic characters, Imran has left behind his chocolate boy looks and is tripping on facial fuzz.

After sporting a beard in MKBKM, the actor will be seen in a moustache in OUATIM 2. Though Imran had the option of getting a fake moustache for his character, he insisted on the real deal. Apparently, he didn’t want any shortcuts and wanted a real moustache to get the feel of the character.

The actor began growing his facial hair post Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, to try out various looks for his character in OUATIM 2. After that, the moustache was finalised by the film’s creative team. “Since I am shooting one film at a time, it’s easier for me to go in for a drastic change with my looks. In the case of MKBKM and OUATIM 2, I play rustic and earthy characters, hence the need to have facial hair,” explains Imran.

Talking about OUATIM 2, Imran has said earlier, “OUATIM 2 is not only set in a certain area but is also a period film. We have to be convincing about both
layers and maintain the illusion. We have to make the characters and era believable and that happens with pre-planning and homework.”
