He has directed back-to-back hits in the past such as Jab We Met (2007), Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Rockstar (2011). And now, director Imtiaz Ali is turning producer with his upcoming road film, Highway, which stars Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt. Imtiaz will co-produce the film with Sajid Nadiadwala under a new banner, White Window.
However, contrary to the speculation that her might also produce another film starring Ranbir Kapoor (who also starred in his last hit Rockstar), we’ve got to know that the filmmaker won’t be doing so. “Sajid will be the solo producer for Ranbir’s film. He won’t be teaming up with Imtiaz as a producer on this project. The film will go on the floors around August-September,” says an insider close of the development. The female lead and the other cast is yet to be finalised.
A couple of years ago, it was reported that UTV had brought Imtiaz on board as the creative producer for the official Hindi remake of the 2009 South Korean romantic action comedy My Girlfreind Is An Agent. But the project, to be directed by choreographer Bosco of the famous Bosco-Caesar duo, is yet to take off. Despite repeated attempts, Imtiaz, who is shooting for Highway outside Mumbai, remained unavailable for a comment.
