Actors Sharman Joshi and Jaaved Jafferi will soon tickle everyone’s funny bone with India’s first war comedy, War Chhod Na Yaar. Sharman plays an Indian army officer while Jaaved is essaying the role of an officer in the Pakistan army, in the film that opens on October 11.
Talking about the experience of playing an Indian army man in the film, produced by AOPL Entertainment Pvt Ltd and directed by Faraz Haider, Sharman says, “An exhilarating feeling of pride and honour for the country sets in as soon as you don the uniform, and also a sense of responsibility along with it.”
Jaaved says, “I think there is no difference between the Indian and Pakistani army officers or any country’s army officer for that matter. I feel any army officer is a man who serves his country and behaves accordingly. He/she follows orders which are supposedly in the best interest of his country. It is the politicians of the respective countries who bring this difference between the armies.”
Giving his take on working in a comic film that’s on the army, Sharman says, “It’s the first-of-its-kind war comedy. It is something that has never been attempted in Indian cinema ever before. It’s a film that all associated with are very proud of.” Jaaved says, “The Army is a very serious business. There are different ways to convey the message and objective of a story and we chose the satire/comical way.”
