Chitrangada Singh and Arjun Rampal in a still from Inkaar.

Director: Sudhir Mishra (last directed Yeh Saali Zindagi in 2011)
Film: Inkaar
Cast: Chitrangda Singh (last seen in Desi Boyz; 2011) and Arjun Rampal (last seen in Ajab Gazabb Love; 2012)
Storyline: Rahul Verma, CEO of an ad agency offers Maya Luthra, a copywriter, a job. He teaches her the ropes of the job and then lands himself an “official complaint” as she alleges he sexually harassed her. The dialogue “Flirting is fun God dammit and we’re an advertising agency” sums it up.

The director, who has only made 12 odd films in his 25-year-long career, is known to be picky about his subjects. His last film, also starring Chitrangda Singh, received encouraging comments from most quarters.

The soundtrack has received positive reviews, appreciated by numerous critics for its “rock dominant” music. Popular singer Swanand Kirkire’s ‘Darmiyaan’ has received special mention.

To kick-start the film’s promotion, Chitrangda Singh shared with her fans that she has actually “suffered sexual harassment”, sparking off a series of headlines. Apparently, the two ad agencies that the movie was allegedly shot in, asked the makers to not credit them in the film as the subject portrayed them in a bad light. Reports also claimed that the word ‘sex’ has been used 262 times in the film. Gasp! Not.

Apart from sanctioning a survey on sexual harassment at workplaces (that apparently cost Rs 2 crore), the makers have been spreading the word about their film relentlessly.

Our assessment
The first comment on the film’s trailer on YouTube sums up the film’s young audience’s reaction — “First of all: damn he is hot!” As for the rest, Sudhir Mishra has a solid enough following of his own and doesn’t often try hard to convince people to watch his films. The promos should do the job for everyone else.
