Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor, both the lead actors in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next Rangoon, are going through the purple patch of their careers. If Shahid has delivered hits like Haider and Udta Punjab, Kangana is continuously bagging big ticket productions. But something is not right between them. At least on the sets of Rangoon.
For the uninitiated, Rangoon is a period drama with three leads, Shahid, Kangana and Saif Ali Khan.
There were reports that Kangana Ranaut is interfering in the creative decisions on the sets. Shahid who owes some milestones of his career like Haider and Kaminey to Vishal Bhardwaj, allegedly reacted to it, and that sparked a ‘cold war’ between the two.
Kangana spoke to the Mid-Day about it, “I don’t pay much heed to mischief-makers, whether they are contemporaries or competition. These mischief-makers are mostly unnecessary publicists who do everything possible to malign you and get you in trouble. I keep a watch on everything. If it’s alarming and I foresee a bigger trap, I hit back. I don’t care about bugs in the bed.”
Nothing wrong with that statement, but what she said next made heads turn.
She added, “I don’t see any trouble between us. Of course, we weren’t pally, which probably was misconstrued. People need to understand that we don’t go to work to make friends.”
It’s not clear who she is talking about, but it seems ‘too much professionalism’ is getting in the way of friendships on the sets of Rangoon.
