It's Amitabh vs Akshay vs John Abraham on October 2 this year
Last year, on October 2, two big films hit the screens — Bang Bang and Haider — both of which went on to make money at the box office. This year, too, the Gandhi Jayanti weekend will have multiple big-ticket releases.
Last year, on October 2, two big films hit the screens — Bang Bang and Haider — both of which went on to make money at the box office. This year, too, the Gandhi Jayanti weekend will have multiple big-ticket releases.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production, directed by Bejoy Nambiar and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar is one of them. It would have to battle it out with Akshay Kumar’s next, co-starring Amy Jackson, and John Abraham’s movie, which is an action film, directed by Nishikant Kamath.
Apart from these three, another film that will release on October 2 is a Vishal Bhardwaj production, which will be directed by Meghna Gulzar, and will star Irrfan Khan, Tabu and Konkona Sen Sharma, among others. A source says, “Last year, too, Vishal had a release on the same day. So, he wanted his production venture to come out on the same day, as he feels the date is lucky for him.”
Trade expert Amod Mehra reveals that long weekends are always the first ones to get booked. “The October 2 weekend will be an interesting one, as there will be a good mix of films releasing. There’s drama, action, comedy and more,” he says.
