All this while, the exhibitors and distributors were perplexed as the two were set for a clash at the box office. But on the last day of the shoot in Mumbai, the makers of BV announced that both the projects will get solo releases.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor’s Bombay Velvet (BV) and Aamir Khan’s P.K. have been hailed as the films to watch out for this year. All this while, the exhibitors and distributors were perplexed as the two were set for a clash at the box office. But on the last day of the shoot in Mumbai, the makers of BV announced that both the projects will get solo releases.

The Ranbir and Anushka Sharma-starrer, directed by Anurag Kashyap, is now set to release on November 28. “BV is a big canvas film with some incredible performances. A special film demands a special release weekend. The film will release worldwide on the Thanksgiving weekend, November 28,” says Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios.

Ranbir agrees, “By not clashing, we’ve decided that it is the best way to put BV across to more audiences. It is a film that has been made with a lot of love and we are proud to announce that Anurag’s dream and passion is going to come to the theatres on November 28.”

Meanwhile, the entire team of Bombay Velvet got emotional on the last day of the shoot. The makers ordered a special cake, that had the film’s release date written on it. They also came up with a novel marketing idea to make sure that the fans remember the film’s release date, as they teased it with a question — ‘what’s happening on November 28?’ — on the Internet. The film’s wrap party had the actors, cast and crew walking in wearing special November 28 T-shirts.

“It’s been an exciting 10 months on the sets with such good actors and a hard-working crew,” says Kashyap.

Adds Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films, “We’re very happy to have finished the shoot the way Anurag envisioned it. We look forward to creating a phenomenal experience for the big screen this year.” HTC
