Music composer Shekhar Ravjiani of the Vishal-Shekhar duo made his acting debut with the recently released film, Neerja. While he is getting a good response for his role, Shekhar says acting was the last thing on his mind.

“I never thought of getting into acting. But I think people noticed me on television when I was part of a reality show, and I got seven to eight film offers after the show got over. But for some reason, I could not connect with the scripts and turned them down,” he says.

Shekhar, who plays actor Sonam Kapoor’s love interest in Neerja, shares that it was the opportunity to work with director Ram Madhvani that made him say yes. “It was producer Atul Kasbekar’s idea to cast me as Sonam’s love interest. I was very excited when I got to know that Ram was directing the film. I have known him for 15 years. He is a fantastic soul. When I read the script, I had tears in my eyes. Of course, I knew the role was brief.”

Although this was his first film as an actor, Shekhar had a great time on the sets. “I enjoyed every single moment of the shoot. I attended a four-day workshop and then shot for six days. I got a chance to interact with everyone and it was a great learning process,” he says.
