With groovy beats and catchy lyrics, item numbers are the necessary ‘tadka’ in the Bollywood film curry. And so, everyone from Rakhi Sawant, Geeta Basra to Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan to even Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham, are game for it. Here are some actors who are going the ‘item’ way in upcoming films.

Bipasha Basu
Film: Shootout At Wadala
After the film, Jodi Breakers, Bong beauty Bipasha Basu, 33, will show her dancing prowess in filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming gangster drama, Shoot Out at Wadala. This item song has been in news as the film stars Bips’ ex-boyfriend, actor John Abraham alongside actor Kangna Ranaut. Talking about the song, a source says, “Bipasha will be seen romancing actor Manoj Bajpai who plays (gangster) Dawood Ibrahim’s elder brother Sabir in the film. The song will be a foot-tapping, high-on-energy number.”

Sunny Leone
Film: Zanjeer remake
Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone, who is shooting for her first Bollywood film Jism 2, may shake a leg for an item song in Telugu star Ram Charan’s Bollywood debut film, a remake of 1973 cult film, Zanjeer. Apparently, Sunny had rejected an item song in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Department.

Giselli Monteiro
Film: Pranam Walekum
After playing a sweet and simple girl, Harleen Kaur, in Love Aaj Kal (2009), the 23-year-old Brazilian model will now show her moves in a rustic item number in Sandeep Kapur’s upcoming film, Pranam Walekum.

The song is called Nautanki Queen Hoon India Se Aayee Hoon. “Giselli plays a nautankiwali (a dancer in village theatre) in the song. She will bring more energy to her sexy moves than the other ladies have done so far. It is a fast-paced song with rustic feel to it, complete with jhatkas and thumkas,” says a source.

Kareena Kapoor
Film: Dabangg 2
The 31-year-old actor is reportedly quite interested in doing an item song in Salman Khan-starrer upcoming film, Dabangg 2, which is being helmed by actor-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan. Confirming the same Arbaaz was quoted as saying, “I am in conversation with Kareena about the song. She too is keen on doing it. I would love her to do a song in Dabangg 2 but will only confirm when it is final.”

The film is a sequel to the hit film Dabangg. It commenced on March 9 in Mumbai’s Kamalistan Studio, and will release on December 21.

Geeta Basra
Film:
Zilla Ghaziabad
Instead of her acting skills, Basra has been more in news due to her rumoured relationship with Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh. And now, she will be seen in a rustic number titled, Ghaziabad Ki Rani Hoon Main, in the upcoming film Zilla Ghaziabad. Talking about the song, Basra, 28, who was last seen in the Emraan Hashmi starrer, The Train in 2007, says, “It is a fun song and has loads of latkas and jhatkas. I’m very excited about it as I always wanted to do a full-on item song and I’m glad that I’ve finally got the opportunity.”

Vidya Balan
Film:
Ferrari Ki Sawaari
This will be the actor’s first item song in her Bollywood career. Since it is a lavani (Maharastrian folk dance) song, people want to see if she’d do better than actor Katrina Kaif’s act in Agneepath’s Chikni Chameli. Talking about the song that’s called Ghar Jana Bi Hai, Vidya was quoted as saying, “It’s a beautiful dance form that I wanted to do for a long time. It hasn’t been shot like any other item number and I hope I’ve done justice to it.”
