Picking up business by word of mouth, Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho has managed collections of around Rs 60.68 crore over the weekend.
After earning Rs 17.75 crore on Friday, the Jai Ho collections dipped slightly on Saturday to Rs 16.68 crore. Though critics' reviews do not favour the film, Salman Khan's star-power was expected to draw crowds.
The word of mouth has been mixed, hence slashing the collections on Saturday.
The earnings, however, picked up on Sunday, and the film earned Rs 26.25 crore on Day three.
The Sohail Khan directorial venture got to a slow start with Rs 17.55 crore earnings at the ticket windows.
Released in 4,500 screens across India, Jai Ho collected Rs 17.55 crore on Friday.
Jai Ho, which also features debutant Daisy Shah along with veteran actors Tabu and Danny Denzongpa, is a political thriller with a heavy dose of action sequences.
Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 75 crore, the movie has grossed Rs 22.36 crore (US$3.55 mn), bringing the worldwide gross figure to Rs 101.28
Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas says audiences are not so excited about the film because of the same genre. "On Friday, the occupancy was just 40% and Saturday was 50%. Sunday's morning shows were around 80%. Going by the performances, Jai Ho will probably touch Rs 100 crore in a week, but not in the first three days of its release."
