Jimmy Sheirgill feels after tasting success with Yash Raj’s Mohabbatein (2000), it’s only now with Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster that history is repeating itself. He says, “I have received a lot of critical acclaim for other films, but as an artiste, you also crave commercial success and I’m happy Tigmanshu gave me that after a long time. I haven’t got my due until now.”

However, the actor feels now is the time to be “aggressive and market himself right.” So besides shooting for Vikram Bhatt’s 3D film Dangerous Ishq alongside Karisma Kapoor, he has also signed on Neeraj Pandey’s Special Chabbis, Tanu Weds Manu 2, and Mumbai Cutting. He says, “I am also planning to explore comedy roles now. For some reason, people feel I can only do intense portrayals, and I want to change that perception.”

In Dangerous Ishq, which also marks Karisma’s return to films after a long hiatus following her marriage and kids, Jimmy will be seen essaying the role of a cop. “My character tries to crack the mystery of the love story that spans 500 years. It’s a thriller. It’s a powerful role and I am enjoying shooting in 3D for the first time. It’s a very different experience and takes longer than shooting for a normal film.”

Jimmy reveals he has also taken up production seriously and is currently co-producing four Punjabi films titled Taur Mitran Di, Tera Mera Ki Rishta, Mel Kara De Rabba and Dharti.
