John Abraham, Bollywood's ‘bruise’ almighty!

Action sequences aren’t always easy. And John Abraham will vouch for that. The actor bruised himself 282 times, and cut himself several times during filming the action sequences for the Vipul Shah-production, Force.

Action sequences aren’t always easy. And John Abraham will vouch for that. The actor bruised himself 282 times, and cut himself several times during filming the action sequences for the Vipul Shah-production, Force.

The tally came to fore after the production house started maintaining a log for the cast and crew to ascertain what sequence the artistes have performed and who might not be available to shoot due to injury.

That’s when Shah and director Nishikant Kamath were shocked to see that John was getting hurt the most; perhaps because the actor refused to use a body double. “John has done what no actor has done on screen till date,” says Shah, adding, “He has performed some of the most breathtaking stunt sequences and that too, without using a body double, safety nets or supporting cables.” Force, which is being touted as John’s first full-fledged action film after Dhoom (2004), has left him so damaged that some of his fractures still trouble him.

Apparently, most of John’s action sequences required him to fight villains physically and not with the help of guns. Unit members from the film inform that John’s bruises started with the first action scene.

In fact they started believing that if John gets hurt during early hours of the shoot, the action on that day would be fantastic.

“We use cables for action sequences, but not when it is raw and physical. At the end of our schedule, we realised that John, despite being a tough guy, had quite a few bruises apart from some hairline and actual fractures,” says action director Allan Amin, calling the sequences “powerful”.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that John has re-shot a few scenes for Force, as they turned out to be similar to Rohit Shetty’s latest hit, Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham. John will also reportedly flaunt his eight-pack abs in this film.
