They have worked together on one of the most-awaited ventures of next year, Shootout At Wadala. And as the film goes into the post-production stage, John Abraham and filmmaker Sanjay Gupta have decided not to sign any new films for the next six-seven months till their gangster flick releases on May 1, 2013.

“It’s not a documented pact or anything, but both of them know that they have something solid on their hands. Plus, Sanjay is confident that the industry and audiences will look at John differently once the film comes out. Basically, their entire perception of John will undergo a huge change. So it makes sense to hold back and wait for the right project to do justice to their careers,” says an insider close to the development.

As John Abraham gets into dubbing and other post production work of Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Wadala (SAW), the two already plan to work together again, immediately after the film releases. “Yes, they have already discussed their next project. If the economics work out, they will team up once more by the end of this year. Since the film has been very tough for both of them, and also took some time to wrap up, they have a very strong bond with each other,” says the insider.

At the same time, John is also not aware of the kinds of offers that will come his way in the interim period (from now to May). The insider adds, “He doesn’t want to spoil his image by doing a film that he isn’t sure about because SAW will put him in a different league altogether. Everyone, including co-producer Ekta Kapoor, is excited about the film and have plans to give it a big marketing push.”

When contacted, Gupta confirmed the news saying, “Over the last two years, both John and I have forged a strong relationship. I can confidently state that we have crossed a milestone with SAW and now it’s time to cross other milestones.”

Right now, John already has Abbas Mustan’s Race 2, the Goldie Behl-produced I, Me Aur Main and the forthcoming Jaffna in hand. “These are films that he finalised long ago. But he isn’t going to sign a new film till SAW comes out in May. He wants to focus on its post-production too,” says the insider.
