Not all may be hunky dory with RGV’s Satya (1998) sequel, as Bollywood hunk John Abraham is rumoured to no longer be producing the film. Earlier, it was being said that John, who ventured into production this year with Vicky Donor, was sure to produce Varma’s sequel to the hit film Satya.
Sources from RGV’s camp say that John may already have backed out, owing to differences with the director over the film’s cast. RGV recently signed newcomer Puneet Israni for the lead, after meeting him at a gym in Oshiwara.
A source says, "The word is that John has pulled out. The original was a superhit, and whenever anyone thinks of making a sequel to a big film, they usually opt for big stars. Perhaps initially there was supposed to be a mix of big stars and newcomers, but as time passed, Ramu settled for an all-new cast. This didn’t go down too well with John."
We tried contacting John, but he was unavailable for comments. However, a spokesperson from his production house, JA Entertainment, says, "At this point, we don’t wish to comment on anything about Satya 2. But at the same time, we want to insist that our relationship is fabulous with Ram Gopal Varma."
Ask RGV about this and he says, "These are all media-created rumours. John is definitely producing the film." Meanwhile, RGV, who is ready with his next, Bhoot Returns, starring Manisha Koirala and JD Chakravarthy, has been given an A certificate by the censors for its 3D trailer. RGV says, "I don’t know what the reason behind giving the 3D trailer an A certificate is. Probably the impact is more in 3D."
