Highlight Story

Film: John Day
Cast: Naseeruddin Shah (last seen in Sona Spa), Randeep Hooda (last seen in Bombay Talkies), Vipin Sharma (last seen in Satyagraha), Shernaz Patel (last seen in Aatma) and Elena Kazan (last seen in Agent Vinod; 2012)
Storyline: The film is a thriller that revolves around a suspicious and mysterious death that takes place.

Director
Ahishor Solomon (Bollywood debut)

Music
Kshitij Tarey and Strings
As per reports, the film doesn’t have a single song. However, there are a few well-received numbers that are doing the rounds for promotional purposes only.

Controversies/stunts
Reports revealed that Naseer and Randeep abandoned the film’s promotions after they discovered that it had a lot in common with a Spanish film called Box 507. The director, apparently, said the film is only loosely inspired. Should the audience also, only loosely, avoid this movie then?

Marketing/hype
Apart from some stories that claimed that Naseeruddin Shah’s character has been inspired by the life of the director, this film has maintained a low profile.

Our assessment
The film has created little buzz and had negligible promotions. The trailers that highlight dialogue like “Mera aur iss duniya ka ‘ajeeeeb’ rishta hai, we both hate each ‘adhar’ equally” (says Randeep Hooda) haven’t helped either. The only aspect of this film that was working for it was Naseeruddin Shah, and he too has disowned it.
