Kajol’s sister Tanishaa Mukerji claims she faced racism in US, calls experience traumatic
Actor Tanishaa Mukerji has claimed she was subjected to a racist attack at a US nightclub and the hotel staff failed to help her.
Actor Tanishaa Mukerji, sister of actor Kajol, has claimed in a report that she faced racist attack in New York earlier this week. The actor was in the US to attend the CRY America charity gala and later visited a restaurant with her friends when a man made insensitive remarks.
“I don’t understand what triggered it as I was polite, but he turned rude. One of the employees, an African-American, said that we looked as if we were fresh off the boat and couldn’t speak English. That was insulting and blatantly racist. My friends and I were shocked. It’s traumatic to experience this kind of racism in the US; I have never faced it earlier,” she told Mid-Day.
She said she approached the hotel authorities but no help was forthcoming. “I told them to call the cops, but they refused to do so,” she said.
Tanishaa was seen in Ramgopal Varma’s Sarkar and was also a part of an earlier season of Bigg Boss. She was last season as a contestant on reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi two years ago.
