Kangana Ranaut is known for being one of the most stylish actresses in Bollywood. Apart from grabbing eyeballs for her style statements and red carpet appearances, the actor also made headlines recently for sporting some expensive outfits in her next, Krrish 3. However, Kangana will now be seen wearing saris for as cheap as Rs 200 in her upcoming film, Rajjo, which is being directed by Vishwas Patil.
In the film, Kangana plays the character of a poor, Nautch dancer (a form of dance that started to gain popularity towards the end of the Mughal era). “The story revolves around a Nautch girl, which obviously means the character is poor. Kangana had to wear inexpensive clothes to make the character look believable. She is well known in the industry for her fashion sense, but she readily agreed to sport these inexpensive outfits,” says Patil.
“I didn’t mind putting on low-cost clothes for my part in Rajjo. In fact, in the second half of the film, where I have been shown to be really impoverished, I have worn saris worth `200. I also wore inexpensive accessories to go with them,” says Kangana. She adds, “If my character is that of a deprived girl, I would love
to wear cheap clothes.”
Kangana will be seen opposite the 19-year-old Paras Arora. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar and Jaya Prada.
Author-turned-film director, Vishwas Patil, who was also a civil servant in Maharashtra, has invited Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for the music launch event of his directorial debut, Rajjo (to be held today, October 27). “I am thankful that Sushilkumar Shinde agreed to attend the ceremony. He has read my books and I’m glad that he is flying to Mumbai especially for the event,” says Patil.
