Mithun Chakraborty is thrilled to be back on television. The veteran actor who has returned to work after a hiatus of two years is excited to be shooting again. He will be seen in a comedy show called The Drama Company that also stars Krushna Abhishek, Ali Asgar and others. “It will be a totally difference experience for me from my previous work. Doing a comedy show is tough and everyone on the show is experienced. I am the newcomer among them and I am nervous,” says the 67-year-old actor.

While there are reports that this show will compete with The Kapil Sharma Show, Mithun disagrees. “Both the shows are on the same channel so there is no competition. I love Kapil’s show and they have a difference concept, which is unlike ours. The audience will have variety to watch. I think Kapil is one of the most talented actors we have seen.”

Mithun adds he loves being on television and watching “the talent India has”. He says, “There is bharpur (plenty of) talent in India — be it a dancer, comedian, actor or singer. I want to boost the morale of contestants and help them achieve their potential. My approach is positive and I want to make stars out of reality show contestants. Today, there is tough competition and when someone stands apart from the crowd, it is simply amazing.”

During his break due to ill health, the actor says he felt “morally low”. “I was feeling low and I felt I won’t come back again (laughs). Now, I am okay and the doctors have given me a clean chit saying the future depends on how I lead my life now.”

The actor has starred in over 350 films in his career. Looking back at his journey, which started with Mrigayaa (1976) that earned him a National Award for Best Actor, Mithun feels blessed. He says, “I have been honest to my profession and played roles to my fullest potential. I have never cheated my audience. Out of 350, maybe 200 are ones that only I could watch, but 150 films have been good ones. Some of them have been landmark ones too. I am happy with them.”

Happy birthday dada
