Karisma Kapoor files domestic violence case against husband Sunjay
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapoor’s divorce battle took a nasty turn after the actor filed a domestic violence case against husband and mother-in-law alleging physical abuse. She has also alleged that Sunjay is living with another woman.
Industrialist Sunjay Kapur will be summoned by the Mumbai police for questioning after his estranged wife, actor Karisma Kapoor, filed a case of dowry harassment against him. The duo is already fighting a bitter battle for divorce and their children’s custody.
Karisma’s lawyer approached the police earlier this week on behalf of the actress to submit an application. The actor has alleged physical torture in her complaint.
“We have registered the case and will conduct an inquiry into the matter based on the allegations. We will question Sunjay and his mother in the coming week,” said an officer from Khar police station.
Karisma has named both Sunjay and mother-in-law Rani Surinder Kapur in her complaint. Police sources said the allegations levelled against Sunjay and Rani are of the time between 2012 and 2013 when Karisma used to stay with them in Khar.
A senior officer requesting anonymity added that Karisma has also mentioned that Sunjay has been staying with another woman. The police said there will be no subsequent arrests before the inquiry is completed.

Meanwhile, the actress also filed a complaint of domestic violence on Friday against Kapur in Bandra metropolitan magistrate’s court. The actress has also demanded Rs 20 lakh per month from Kapur as maintenance for their kids.
“As a matter of right for my client we have sought three basic things for her in the petition. Protection of children from being taken out of Mumbai till further order, maintenance for kids as he has stopped paying and injunction order from selling the property of Kapur’s father over which he and the children have rights,” said Karisma’s lawyer Sanjog Parab.

One of the main contentions in the petition filed by Karisma is that Kapur has been staying with a woman and her child at his Delhi residence despite being married to the actor. “Her well-wishers have informed her and also gave her pictures of Kapur holidaying with this woman and her kid. We have attached these pictures to support our claim,” Parab said.
Parab further said that the court has granted interim relief to Karisma and ordered that the children will remain with her till further order. The court has now issued notice to Kapur to reply to her petition. The petition is now scheduled for hearing next month.
