In a country where cricket and films are the most followed religions, it is not surprising that a regional festival turns into a national celebration, thanks to Bollywood. Karva Chauth, once a Punjabi ceremony women observed for the long and healthy life of their husbands, is now a full-fledged festival celebrated by almost half of India.
