Whether it was Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (with Salman Khan; 2005) from her early days in the industry or Dhoom: 3 (with Aamir Khan; 2013), Katrina Kaif has mainly worked with established actors since the start of her career. But, the recent turn of events indicates a change of plan.
As the actor shoots for her next — which was supposed to have Sushant Singh Rajput — with Aditya Roy Kapur (who made his debut in 2009 with London Dreams), she has also signed Farhan Akhtar’s next production opposite Sidharth Malhotra (who started his acting career just three years ago in Student Of The Year), showing her inclination to work with younger actors.
Trade expert Komla Nahta puts things into perspective, "There could be a couple of reasons for this. Often heroines don’t dictate who the hero of the film should be. Also, not just heroines, but actors, too, after a certain point in their career, will like to work with the younger lot so that their appeal with the youth remains intact."
A few others feel that it is an obvious step for an actor who has worked in the industry for over a decade. "It is not a calculated move," says trade expert Taran Adarsh, adding, "Today, everything is script and role-oriented. If you have a part that demands a certain kind of look and actor, then why not?"
Trade expert Atul Mohan echoes a similar stance saying, "Senior actors like Shah Rukh and Aamir are doing one film a year and their chemistry with most actresses is tried and tested. Working with younger actors adds a certain kind of freshness to the film."

While it’s common knowledge that Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur are set to share screen space in Abhishek Kapoor’s next, audiences will get a taste of their onscreen chemistry even before the film releases.
A popular cola brand has signed the actors to endorse its product. An industry source reveals, "They will be seen together in the summer campaign of this brand, which is slated to go on air soon. The leaked pictures of the two shooting in Kashmir created a lot of stir among the audience. The brand felt it was a great idea to bank on the freshness of this pair. Aditya and Katrina make a good-looking pair and both have their set of fans, which works well for the brand."
The source adds that the duo has already shot for the advertisement.
