If rumour mills are to be believed, Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif who feature in Zoya Akhtar’s forthcoming ensemble film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, don’t see eye-to-eye. It is learnt that the former who was conspicuous by her absence at the unveiling of the movie’s first trailer, isn’t likely to attend the music launch this evening either.
A member of the production crew reveals that the problem is more from Kalki’s side than Katrina’s. Maintaining that both the actors have equal prominence in the film, he reveals, “Somewhere, Kalki felt that Katrina was getting more importance in the promos and despite Excel Entertainment’s efforts to reassure her on that front, she skipped the launch of the first trailer a couple of weeks ago after promising to be there. She excused herself on the pretext of travelling for the promotion of her husband Anurag Kashyap’s production, Shaitan, but we later discovered that she’d been in Mumbai."Another source adds that Eros International which is distributing Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, is keen to showcase Kalki, while Excel is backing Katrina. Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel was unavailable for comment, but his close associate insists that all's well: "Every member of the cast has made time for the music launch this evening. Hrithik Roshan, who will also be singing the Senorita track with Farhan (Akhtar) and Abhay (Deol), is returning from Diu. Abhay and Kalki will be flying from Wai, where they are shooting for Dibakar Banerjee’s film."
Ram Mirchandani, CCO, Eros International, echoes his views saying, “Both, Excel and Eros are on the same page as far as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is concerned. We’re both looking forward to one of the largest opening in terms of box-office numbers.”
However, standing by his story, our source insists that Kalki’s absence at the music launch will confirm the news: “And if she comes, it will be only to nullify these reports.”
