Actor Kay Kay Menon, who has created a niche for himself as a serious actor, has recently been seen in some subtly humorous films. But now, for the first time, he will be seen in a new genre — a completely dance oriented film — Any Body Can Dance (ABCD). UTV Motion Pictures has recently signed him for a pivotal role in the film.
Confirming the news Rucha Pathak, UTV creative head on ABCD, says, “We have done many films with Kay Kay and we knew that this key role could only be carried out by an amazing actor like him.”
Directed by choreographer-turned Remo D’ Souza, ABCD is the India’s first 3D dance film, which he conceived drawing close reference to his personal struggle to establish himself as one of the most noted names in his field.
Apart from Kay Kay, the films stars southern dance icon Prabhudheva in the lead role, along with choreographer Ganesh Acharya and American dancer Lauren Gottlieb of dance reality show So You Think You Can Dance fame. “Remo was completely thrilled to have an actor like Kay Kay on board for his most ambitious project yet,” says an insider who is closely associated with the development of ABCD.
Kay Kay has been spared from challenging to Prabhudheva when it comes to dancing in the film, although he will be seen having a showdown with the actor. “It will be awesome to watch Prabhu and Kay Kay in a face-off on screen,” says Rucha. But prod her on whether Kay Kay will have any dance sequence in the film and she reserves her comments, only saying, “Just wait and watch.”
