Kesari box office day 3: Akshay Kumar’s film hits half century, makes Rs 56 crore in 3 days

Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Kesari, is recording great figures at the box office. The film has made Rs 56 crore in just three days.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the new figures. “#Kesari shows an upward trend on Day 3 [Sat]... Metros pick up, mass circuits good... Big Day 4 [Sun] on the cards... Eyes Rs 80 cr [+/-] *extended* weekend... Thu 21.06 cr, Fri 16.70 cr, Sat 18.75 cr. Total: Rs 56.51 cr. India biz,” he wrote in a tweet.

It is expected that Kesari will surpass the opening weekend collections of Gully Boy (Rs 72 crore) and Total Dhamaal (Rs 62 crore). The film is already the year’s biggest opener having made Rs 21 crore.

The film earned good reviews from critics and the audience alike. It collected Rs. 16.70 crore on its second day, and minted Rs. 18.75 crore on its third day, paving its the way into to the Rs 50 crore club. According to Taran, the film featured on 4200 screens across the world, with 3600 in the country and 600 abroad.

Kesari, also starring Parineeti Chopra, is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, where an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans. Akshay essays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh.

Apart from Kesari, Akshay will also be seen in Good News and Mission Mangal, while, Parineeti will soon star in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Jabariya Jodi. She was also recently announced as the lead of badminton star Saina Nehwal’s biopic.
