After working with first-time directors and announcing new actors for his banner, Bollywood’s ace filmmaker Karan Johar has signed Marathi composing brothers Ajay and Atul Gogavale to do the music for his new-age remake of

Agneepath

.

Ajay and Atul shot to fame with their Marathi compositions

Natrang

and the sound captured for

Agneepath

, to be produced under Dharma Productions banner, is expected to be very different from what we normally hear in the films today. “We wanted a sound that resonated with what the composing maestros Laxmikant-Pyarelal had done in my father’s production of

Agneepath

. With due respect to the composers of today, I don’t think anyone else could have composed the sound we wanted,” said Karan.

It was Riteish Deshmukh who introduced Karan to Atul-Ajay. “I loved Atul-Ajay’s music in

Natrang

. The minute my

Agneepath

director Karan Malhotra and I heard their music, we knew this is what we were looking for. Atul and Ajay will do to this new movie what Laxmikant-Pyarelal did to my father’s film. The music has the same epic quality with huge orchestral sounds,” said Karan. This is for the first time that Karan is working with a new team of composers. It’s part of his plan to rejuvenate the film industry with new talent.

Some of the songs for the new

Agneepath

have already been finalised.
