The Bheja Fry sequel has a new entrant. Actor Kay Kay Menon will replace the role of the flamboyant businessman, previously played by Rajat Kapoor. And as opposed to speculations, his character is not modeled on Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya.
“My character is not modeled around anyone. How can a character be inspired from someone without studying him or her? Dawood Ibrahim’s personality can’t inspire every villainous character. Similarly, I’m not playing Vijay Mallya,” says Kay Kay.
He calls his character an antithesis to that of Vinay’s Bharat Bhushan. “We are poles apart. The story is about how they meet and can’t avoid each other. And how my suave character gets harassed when he is with this idiot who fries his brains,” said Kay Kay, who insists he didn’t sign the film just because the first part was a hit. “I look at a film in its entirety. When Sagar (director Sagar Ballary) narrated the role to me, I found it interesting. Playing a charming character with a sense of humour intrigued me.” But according to him, the sequel is going to be better than the first one. “The scale is much bigger. We have even shot abroad and on a cruise,” he says.
Vinay will enter a singing reality TV show and will be paired with Minissha Lamba in the film that releases on July 15. Besides Bheja Fry 2, KK will also be seen in Makrand Deshpande’s Dream Man, Bhindi Bazaar Inc and Satrangi Parachute this year.
