To take a trip down memory lane, actor Konkona Sensharma will go back to her school this Independence Day (August 15), but in the capacity of a teacher. She will talk to students about India's lesser-known freedom fighters.
An insider says, "Konkona feels that there is a need to educate youngsters about the country. For the same, she will visit her school, and talk to kids from the primary section about a few unsung heroes of India."
Apparently, Konkona learnt a lot about the country's freedom struggle while she was working on her upcoming film. "She learnt so much about India's freedom struggle, and the contribution of many unsung heroes. The idea to go back to her school and talk to youngsters sprouted from there. Besides the great leaders who fought for India's freedom, she feels that there are many more people who need to be spoken about" says the source.
When contacted, Konkona says, "I was moved and inspired after I recently met one such unsung hero. Meeting him and his wife - who stood by him through thick and thin - was a revelation. I was shocked to know that the person, and others like him, who selflessly fought for India's freedom, have not got their due credit. That is when I thought that we need to educate the new generation about those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation, but don't find a place in history books."
