Kriti Sanon: In the beginning of your career, you need people to know that you exist
Actor Kriti Sanon, whose third film Raabta released recently, says it’s important for an outsider to get some kind of backing when they venture into Bollywood.
Actor Kriti Sanon made her Bollywood debut with Heropanti (2014) alongside actor Tiger Shroff and was later seen in filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale (2015) opposite actor Varun Dhawan. Grateful for the break she got in the film industry, the 26-year-old says that she was very particular about how her first film should be. “When I started my career, I wanted to bag a project where I had a platform to perform. I didn’t want to just be another part of a film but I wanted to shine as an actor. It should be a platform that puts me out there in front of the audience and industry. This meant a good production house and a nicely packaged and promoted film,” says Kriti.
Talking about the thought process behind this, she adds, “When you don’t have an established surname and don’t know anyone in the industry, you need people in the industry to know that you exist.”
Although some of the parameters that mattered to Kriti while choosing films have changed, there are some that still remain the same. “One thing that hasn’t changed is that I am very instinctive. When I am hearing a narration, I react to it like a normal audience would, and think if I would want to watch this film or not. There are other parameters, which come later like my character in the film, the director and co-actors. I also think how much of a difference I make to the script as an actor,” says Kriti, who is seen alongside actor Sushant Singh Rajput in her recently released film, Raabta.
