Veteran south actor Kamal Haasan is happy about the growing success of his daughter, Shruti, in the Hindi film industry. But when it comes to working with her, he’d rather wait for her to become accomplished than hurry into things.
“I think she wants to prove herself. I hope one day she will make her own (business) card and come to meet me. Then we will jointly decide. Let her prove her mettle first. I think that’s a good way, rather than being called someone else’s daughter, sister, wife or mother,” says Kamal.
Shruti seems to be slowly strengthening her position in the industry, with films like Prabhu Dheva’s directorial, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, and Nikhil Advani’s D-Day. Even now, she has other upcoming projects, such as Welcome Back and Gabbar, along with another Telugu film called Race Gurram, which she is currently shooting for.
As a father, Kamal says he’s happier with her bagging her own assignments based on her acting chops, and not her family name. “She is striving towards it. I should be remembered as her relative, but she shouldn’t get work based on the relation we share. That’s how it should be,” says the actor, who is working on the sequel to his action film, Vishwaroop.
