Ajay Devgn began his career almost two decades ago with an action flick. Soon action films became his staple diet and he became synonymous with action genre. Lately though, the 42-year-old dabbled in the comedy genre with much success.

Soon, Golmaal series and romantic comedies such as Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji followed. However, a much leaner and beefed up Devgn is back to his action roots after eight years with his new flick, Singham. The actor gets candid about his new look and much more.

On returning to action
I started as an action hero but for the last eight years I haven’t done any action film. I wanted to get back to action only when the script was right. Singham is that film as it has a strong character and is a total entertainer.

On working in Singham
Getting a beefed up body wasn’t too much hard work as I have always been working out. Having said that, this time I had to push myself a bit more. I ate right and put in a few more hours.

On Singham vs Dabangg
There is absolutely no similarity between the two films, except for the lead actors, who are both cops. So there should be no comparisons and once people will see the film, they will realise it for themselves.

On returning to direction
I surely have something in mind but I need a break of six months before I venture into it. Right now, I’m too busy with films at least for the next one and a half years. So, probably by the end of next year.

On wife Kajol: It is completely her call to return to movies. You should ask her. But she will take time (smiles)

On daughter Nysa: She finds Singham posters really cool. But she doesn’t like action films usually.
