Director Sajid Khan intends to hook audiences to his remake of the 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi starrer, Himmatwala, right from the very start. The filmmaker, who is going to shoot the mahurat (inaugural) shot of the movie in Hyderabad on Wednesday, will be streaming the event live on YouTube.
“I want my film to reach out to as many people as possible. Keeping that in mind, I thought it would be nice to stream the first shot live on YouTube and garner blessings from everyone,” says Sajid, confirming the news about the film that will see actors Ajay Devgan and Tamannaah Bhatia reprise the roles of the original couple.
However, the filmmaker insists that the mahurat will not be anything like the usual cake-cutting ceremonies. “It will start with Ajay delivering a 'sidey’ dialogue from the film, after which we will roll the mahurat shot,” says Sajid.
The director has also bought the rights to two of the most popular songs from the original film from Sa Re Ga Ma — Naino Mein Sapna and Taki Re Taki. Music composers Sajid-Wajid have been roped in to recreate the songs for the remake.
The film produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani is expected to hit theatres by early next year.
