She danced in Munni Badnaam Hui alongside Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg (2010). And Malaika Arora-Khan’s item number went on to become a chartbuster. Now, she is back in the sequel with the song, Pandeyji Seeti Mare. Even though Malaika and her actor-director hubby Arbaaz Khan are tightlipped about it, we have learned that her presence in the film was never in doubt.
“Malaika has wrapped up her portion of the song. Arbaaz and Salman (actor Salman Khan) had always wanted to retain her in the film since Munni Badnaam Hui had become such a huge hit. They think she is their good luck charm, but she won’t be there in the entire song. However, it will surely remind audiences of Munni’s madness, colour and energy,” says an insider close to the unit. The song is being wrapped up at Mehboob Studio in Bandra. Besides Salman and Malaika, Sonakshi Sinha, who plays Chulbul’s wife in the film, is part of the number.
When contacted, Arbaaz confirms that his wife, who is also the film’s co-producer, has a “special act” in Dabangg 2. Malaika adds, “It’s true that I have just wrapped up my portion in the song, but you can technically call it a special appearance.” The film is slated to release on the Christmas weekend.
