The new kids on the block playing the lead in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film, Satya 2, are all excited about the movie. Puneet Singh Ratn, 26, who plays the lead in the film, says, “I am super excited and super nervous. I’m hoping for the best.” About clinching the offer, he reveals, “One of the links suggested my name to Ramuji. And within 10 minutes of meeting me, he said, ‘You are my Satya’.”
Shedding light on his role, he says, “It’s a character that has different shades. He is intense and has his own way and plans.”
Anaika Soti, 19, who plays one of the female leads, says that it is a dream come true to be in Bollywood, even though she has never planned the same. Recalling how she bagged the role, Anaika says, “Everything happened by fluke. I met RGV in an elevator while I had gone to meet a friend and got this offer. But I have to admit that once I began shooting, there was no looking back and I was very comfortable.”
Anaika, who plays a simple, non-glamourous role in the film, is all praises for her director. “RGV is extremely intelligent and chilled out. I thank him for being patient with me. Bahut log they jo RGV ko bol rahe they ki (There were a lot of people who questioned RGV) why are you taking this girl? ‘She is too young.’ But he was firm with his decision and kept telling me, ‘tum kar sakti ho’ (You an do it). ”
Mumbai-based Aradhna Gupta, who plays the role of a budding actor, is the third character in the movie. The 21-year-old clarifies that the film has nothing in common with Satya (1998) except the name. “This is neither a sequel nor a prequel to Satya. Satya is just a name. It is a completely different story. It is based on how a man reinvents the Mumbai underworld,” she says.
Crossing her fingers, the newcomer signs off saying, “We all have worked very hard for the film. I wish that our film will be liked by all.” Meanwhile, Varma tweeted, “Satya 2 will now release on November 8 instead of October 25.”
