Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, who is miffed with the Censor Board over objections raised against the title of his upcoming film Yeh Saali Zindagi, says, he will not change it as there is nothing abusive about it.
"There is no way the title can be refused. I won't change the title. I have got clearance from Censor Board on October 1. We have the signature of the officer-in-charge. We have nine censor certificates. I don't know what the problem is,” Mishra said.Censor Board Chief Sharmila Tagore has raised objections to the title of Mishra's film Yeh Saali Zindagi.
"Now that our money has gone in, promos and trailers are on, the film is releasing on February 4. I have no idea about their displeasure with the title. If they had any problem they should have said on October 1," he said.
Directed by Mishra, Yeh Saali... is a romantic thriller starring Irrfan Khan, Arunoday Singh, Chitrangda Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari.
"Saali is not a bad or abusive word. It was a song (Zindagi pe tera mera kiska na zor nahi hai…hum sochte kuch hai yeh saali sochti kuch aur hai…yeh saali zindagi hai) and this is how the title of the film happened," Mishra said.
Asked if this negative publicity helped him in garnering box office returns, Mishra said, I did not ask for negative publicity. I did not want to start any controversy. I don’t know why this has come up. The film is scheduled for release on February 4.
On the usage of the title in his real life, Mishra, said, "All of us has some grievances in their life. But sometimes problems solve your life. Sometimes life turns you round... flip-flops you so one feels why this thing happened after so many good things. Life is a complicated journey. In my life there were instances when I have said yeh saali zindagi."
